Mutua and Githae were panelists at an engagement forum meant to debate the Supreme Court ruling and organized by the Kenya Scholars and Studies Association (KESSA) in Atlanta, Georgia.
At one time during the forum, the controversial law scholar caused excitement after he stated that he was glad he had failed to clinch the Chief Justice position.
“I was very happy I didn't get the job of Chief Justice because if I had ruled against Mr Kenyatta I would have been lynched in the public square,” Mutua stated amid audience laughter.
The lawyer further lauded the Kenyan Supreme Court for nullifying President Uhuru Kenyatta’s win in what he termed as a historic ruling.
However, the comments did not go down well with Githae, a close ally and direct appointee of President Kenyatta.
The former minister stated that the Jubilee Presidential candidates had been denied their deserved win.
“I can categorically say here looking you straight in the eye that the Supreme Court robbed Uhuru Kenyatta of his win and stole the election from the Kenyan people,” the Kenyan Ambassador.
Throughout the session, Mutua and Githae engaged in passionate exchanges on the merits and the demerits of the Supreme Court ruling.
